Dining Destinations

American writer and cultural anthropologist Mary Catherine Bateson has been quoted as saying 'human beings do not eat nutrients, they eat food'. And though there are times when a hot dog by the near the waves will absolutely sate your appetite, there are other times when an intimate or fine dining option is the only way to go. When you want to savor a special moment along with superior food, you can hardly do better than our Gulf area. You can go for the 'wow-factor' of an enormous aquarium to set the mood of the sea while you dine on succulent creations or opt for something smaller to allow classic creations to shine in a cozy atmosphere of elegant ambiance. Listed below are a few local suggestions for your foray into delectable cuisine.

Fetishes Dining and Wine Bar-6305 Gulf Blvd, St. Pete Beach

Looking for an incredibly intimate place with personalized service and amazing food? Look no further than Fetishes Dining and Wine Bar. This unassuming building with few tables allows this owner operated restaurant to provide incredible service in a quiet setting. The reviews are off the charts regarding classic and table side preparations. Classics such as Lobster Newburg, Chateaubriand and Crepe Suzette are all available here. Whether you are looking to impress or be impressed, this location will not disappoint. Wine If you need more than yelp or google reviews to help you (though there are many), you should be aware that Fetishes was awarded the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 2016 as well as a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for 2016. Marchand's-501 5th Ave NE, St. Petersburg

There are certain places that evoke history before you even sit down for dinner. Marchand's is one of those places as it is located in the Historic Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club. This is an upscale Mediterranean building with a view of Tampa Bay. The wow factor is present immediately but continues with amazing food and ambiance. One of the best values is the Classic Menu, a prix fixe option for only $19.95 that continues to get great reviews. Feel as sophisticated as the locale when you order the Pappadelle or the Lamb Cassoulet. Call for reservations: 727-824-8072

Rumfish Grill-6000 Gulf Blvd, St. Pete Beach

This favorite of locals and visitors alike calls itself an 'immersive experience to stimulate your sense' and it does not disappoint. The fresh seafood and drink specials get great reviews but the obvious show piece here is the 33,500 gallon aquarium commissioned for this destination dining spot. The grilled lobster and seared scallops are popular with diners as they gaze at the massive tank. Call for reservations: 727-329-1428
