Dog Friendly!

Our four legged friends are often as much family as the bipeds, and many people could not imagine taking a vacation without bringing their canine companions along. In this tropical wonderland, there are many dog friendly places along the coast, fun little stores and restaurants that allow and sometimes celebrate our pets along with us. Some provide water bowls while you dine al fresco and others will have the occasional cookie jar with a treat for just such a pawed visitor. Finding things for Fido to do for an entire day are not always possible (and let's face it, sometimes Fido wants to snooze in the comfort of an air conditioned bungalow) but there are locally options that will provide sun and adventure. Take a drive so your doggy bff can look out the window while you head out to parts unknown to play and frolic along the water for a day you won't soon forget.

Fort DeSoto Paw Playground-3500 Pinellas Bayway S, Saint Petersburg

The paw playground and beach at Fort DeSoto has large fenced areas for both large and small dogs, including showers for those hot days. Dogs are allowed anywhere on the park on a 6 foot leash, except on any beach. The Paw Playground is the exception--dogs are allowed on the beach and they are allowed off the leash for that part of the beach. This is a free, fun thing for your pup.

Paradise Grille- is open daily from 8:00am to 8:30pm, and is happy to serve up delicious food complete with a friendly and accommodating staff. Bring Fido along, sit at one of their pet-friendly outdoor tables, and enjoy the spectacular ocean views
